Course description
Level: The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) benchmarks the IEMA Foundation Certificate at level 3.
The IEMA Foundation Certificate gives learners an understanding of the entire sustainability agenda. They will learn all about topics such as climate change, ecosystems, pollution and sustainability trends. And discover how business activities contribute to them on a wider scale. By the end of the course, learners will know exactly what to do to reduce the impact of your company’s activities and contribute to the sustainability of your region.
Who should attend?
This course is for anyone who is new to environment and sustainability and has a desire to acquire new knowledge and skills to begin their career.
Covering a wide range of environmental, sustainability and governance principles, this course gives learners an understanding of the breadth of the sustainability agenda, and the management tools and skills that they will need when working in this area.
Learners will also get 12 months Associate Membership of IEMA (AIEMA) when they take the IEMA Foundation certificate. Members are able to forge connections with industry influencers and get career advice, guidance, and insight into what it’s like to work at their level.

- Outline major tools, techniques, systems and practices used to improve sustainability performance.
- Outline the role of innovation and other leading practices in developing sustainable products and services and providing sustainable solutions.

Assessments
The IEMA Foundation Certificate is assessed with a multiple-choice online exam. There are 30 questions, each with 4 possible answers.
Duration
The course takes about 40 hours to complete, but this self-guided learning style means that learners can complete the course at their own pace. 6 months of access is provided.
Certification
Certificates will be made available from our delivery partner, Astutis 807, after all course activities have been completed.
