Monday 23 September 2024: On Sunday 15 September, around 200 motorbikes passed through the Tyne Tunnel in a spectacular convoy from Northbound Washington Services to Hartlepool, all in support of St John Ambulance. The event, made possible with the assistance of TT2, aimed to raise funds to help the national first aid charity continue training and equipping its local first aid volunteers.

The first bikes began arriving at the Royal Navy Museum in Hartlepool at around 11.30am, where St John volunteers were on hand to provide free lifesaving first aid demonstrations.

Tony Laker, Regional Youth Manager, expressed his gratitude, saying:

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who generously donated to the motorbike ride through the Tyne Tunnel. Your support, which has so far generated a total of more than £1,000, has been invaluable in helping us raise funds for St John, and we are deeply grateful for your contributions.

A special thank you goes to TT2 for their crucial support and cooperation, which ensured the smooth running of the ride. The enthusiasm and dedication of all the bikers who participated made the event truly memorable.

For those who still wish to contribute, donations can be made via our JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/ellie-mcintyre-1722606444682. The public’s continued support will help equip and train our local first aiders, ensuring they are prepared to assist in times of need.
