We want to ensure that no one dies through lack of first aid provision.

That’s why we set up the CPR Online hub, to ensure that everyone has access to basic life support training in person, online or by using our Resource Hub to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency.

In an emergency, every second counts, in this video we simulate a cardiac arrest and show you how to perform basic life support.

This video will teach you how to carry out a primary survey, how to contact emergency help using a video relay service (VRS), how to perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Ask me how to put someone in the recovery position

If you find someone collapsed, you should first perform a primary survey. If it shows that they are unresponsive but breathing, then you can place them in the recovery position.

The recovery position is the safest position to put a casualty in when they are breathing normally, but not responding to you.

The recovery position helps maintain the casualty’s airway until emergency help arrives.

Ask us about the CPR Community Network and how it is helping save lives

The CPR Community Network is a partnership between St John Ambulance and the NHS and is supported by Ambulance Trusts in England, The British Heart Foundation and Resuscitation Council UK.

The Network’s main objective is to increase out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rates across England, with a mixture of face to face initiatives to engage communities on how to perform CPR and use an AED, as well as making community focussed Emergency First Aid resources to increase public confidence to respond in an emergency situation.
