Venue Requirements

For all courses - Venue

• The venue must be a public building (e.g. school, community hall, workplace). We cannot train at a residential address such as a house or flat.
• The trainer must have access to the venue 30 minutes before the course and 15 minutes after it ends.
• The room must be private, quiet, and suitably sized for the training selected.
• Provide one chair per delegate and a surface to write on.
• All furniture should be movable and not restrict activities.
• There should be toilet facilities, adequate ventilation, and an appropriate temperature for the season.
• Refreshment provisions (a minimum of fresh water) should be available.
• The venue must comply with the Equality Act 2010.
• All trainers have an Enhanced DBS, and carry SJA ID. If additional ID or security clearance is needed, please advise in advance.
• If the induction process exceeds 15 minutes, please specify this on your booking request form.
  
  

For all courses - Equipment

• Essential: TV, monitor or projector with available connections (such as HDMI) should be provided for trainer to connect laptop to display presentation materials. TVs or monitors should also have sound.
• Essential: Access to a power socket for the duration of the course.
• Essential: Wi-Fi coverage for trainers and attendees with suitable bandwidth should be available.
• Preferred: Access to a whiteboard and/or flipchart.
  
  

For all Courses - Parking & Unloading

• Parking must be available for the trainer* for the duration of the course, with safe space to unload equipment. *Trainers inside M25 will use public transport, we still require space to unload equipment.
• If parking is not available, a loading bay or other suitable space must be available for us to unload equipment. There should be a member of staff on hand to assist with unloading, especially if the use of stairs/lift is required.
• If you are not able to provide these, we may not be able to attend your venue.
  
  

Courses inside London (the M25)

• Unloading space at the venue is essential - Training equipment will be delivered the working day before the course and collected the working day after (Delivery service operates Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).
• Please let us know about any access requirements for delivery such as ID or if we need to book a specific time/place to drop off and collect.
• Resources must be stored securely and returned in good condition.
  
  

Physical First Aid Courses

First-aid courses with practical elements (such as CPR, First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid etc) The training room must meet the standard venue requirements, plus:

• There should be enough floor space in the room for half your delegates to complete practical tasks such as recovery position simultaneously. We advise this should be at least the size of a double bed per 2 delegates – approx. Total 50m² (540ft²) of training space, ideally a minimum of 6.5m x 8m (21ft x 26ft).
• The floor should be carpeted or have school gym-style mats available to use - training will include activities such as kneeling over casualties and acting as the casualty during the course.
  
  

Health And Safety Courses

Fire Marshal courses

The training room must meet the standard venue requirements, plus:

• A clear, safe, and ventilated outdoor area (on your premises) at least the size of two car parking spaces is required for extinguisher practice.
• If suitable outdoor space is not available, let us know when booking. A video demonstration will be used instead.
  
  

Mental Health Courses

The training room must meet the standard venue requirements, plus:

• A meeting room setup is acceptable - no practical space is required.
• Breakout rooms are recommended for group discussions.
• Please note: Mental Health First Aid courses cover sensitive topics such as suicide and self-harm. While we foster a safe, supportive environment, delegates should be aware that some discussions may be emotionally challenging, and consider their suitability before attending.
• Postal resources are sent to site ahead of the course.
  
  

Specialist Courses

The training room must meet the standard venue requirements, plus:

FREC & FROS - Maximum group size: 6 delegates.

• Ample space is required for scenario training.
• Postal resources are sent to site ahead of the course. Any pre-learning must be complete prior to the start date.

EVAC Chair - Maximum group size: 8 delegates.

• You must provide the evacuation chair and confirm the make and model at the time of booking to ensure suitable training.
• Stairs must be available for training purposes for the duration of the course.

IOSH - All Courses

• Postal resources are sent to site ahead of the course.
  
  
  

Delegate Requirements – All Courses

 

• Delegates should arrive at least 15 minutes before the course starts.
• Delegates should wear comfortable, practical clothing suitable for first aid activities (e.g. kneeling or acting as a casualty on the floor).
• Please consider delegates’ physical capabilities when booking physical first aid and seek GP advice where appropriate.
• Delegates require a basic command of English (Level 2) to take part.
• We are committed to ensuring that all learners can participate. If any delegate has a disability, learning need, or any other barrier that might affect their experience, let us know. We will work with you to make appropriate adjustments where possible.
• Full attendance is required to meet course contact hours and receive certification. Trainers may refuse entry to late arrivals.
• Mandatory pre-course requirements (e.g. online learning) must be completed in the time scale outlined in the booking confirmation. Delegates will also be required to show proof of completion by showing their certificate to the trainer. This can either be a printed copy or via a smartphone / smart device. Failure to do so will result in denial of attendance and no refund.
